#OndoDecides2024: PDP candidate, Agboola cry foul accuses INEC of compromise
The Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Agboola Ajayi has cried foul and expressed his lack of confidence in the ongoing governorship election in Ondo.
The expressed his disappointment after he voted saying, the challenge goes beyond technical glitches to deliberate attempt to manipulate the electoral process that would favour the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
In an interview he granted after casting his vote at Apoi Ward II, Unit 004 in Ese-Odo Local Government Area, he expressed his frustration at the unworkability of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS.
He stated, “The system has been compromised. It is sad INEC can’t conduct election well in one state.”
“We have said it severally that we don’t trust Barrister Olatoyin Babalola, that this woman can’t be fair”.
“I think it is deliberate on the part of INEC and the REC. And we’ve said this several times that the woman can’t be fair.
“I have had series of complaints from across the state. People are complaining of vote buying. It is a very shameful exercise.”
Ajayi wondered how the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC could not conduct a free and fair of an isolated election.
The PDP candidate’s dissatisfaction echoed earlier complaints from his party about BVAS malfunctions and potential bias from INEC officials, particularly the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Barrister Olatoyin Babalola.
