Wike, allies sink deeper as PDP insists on Fubara’s faction as authentic in Rivers

The camp of Nyesom Wike-led Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has to come to the reality of losing out and sinking deeper into their woes as the party organ reaffirmed recognition of the Sminalayi Fubara’s ally, Hon. Nname Robinson Ewor as the party Chairman in Rivers.

Ewor took over the leadership of PDP in Rivers, following Court judgement voiding the congress held by the party in 2024, which was overseen by the former governor of Rivers State and Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Change of Name

CAPITAL POST recalled that political issues has knocked Wike and Fubara’s heads with both fighting for the soul of PDP. Today, they are 27 members of Rivers State House of Assembly loyal to Nyesom Wike, but have now lost out of the happenings in Rivers as they have been ostracized from the Assembly.

The statement on Friday by the party, said, the decision to recognize Fubar’s ally was in consonance with the Court judgement and that of the Constitution of the Peoples Democratic Party as amended in 2017.

The National Publicity Seretary of the PDP, Hon. Debo Ologunagba,who signed the statement on Friday and made it available to journalists, explained that the party cannot disregard the Court and its own Constitution, but to obey rulings and certain provision of the PDP Consttutioin.

At the time of the statement, neither the judgment was appealed nor upturned by any Court of competent jurisdiction, adding that the party would do all it could to avoid the Plateau scenario where the party lost many seats due to unrecognized congress..

“The PDP commends the leaders, critical stakeholders, members and supporters of our Party in Rivers State for working with the Hon. Nname Robinson Ewor-led State Executive to ensure the stability and continuous success of the PDP in the State.

“The national leadership again charges the Ewor-led Rivers State Executive to continue to work harmoniously with the leader of the PDP in Rivers State, His Excellency, Governor Similanayi Fubara as he intensifies efforts in his massive delivery of good governance to the people of Rivers State in line with the manifesto and policy thrust of the PDP,” the statement added.
