Tragic Killing of Students: Federal University Lokoja shut indefinitely
The Federal University, Lokoja has been shut due to the killings of five students when a trailer reportedly fell on inter-campus shuttle bus at Felele area of Lokoja on Monday.
Students of the University have taken to protest the incessant killing of their colleagues and insisted that a drastic action be taken by government to avert further tragic accidental killing of students.
CAPITAL POST reports that the State Governor, Usman Ahmed Ododo made spirited effort to intervene as well as an appeal for calm by the management of the University to no avail.
As a result of protest since Monday by students amid tension, the Vice Chancellor of the University announced that “it was the advice of Security Agencies for the school to be shut immediately to avoid further loss of lives and prosperity.
Students are to vacate campuses in or before 12 noon, today, Thursday. 20th February. The letter for indefinite closure was signed by Dr. Rebecca Aimiohu Okojie, Registrar and Secretary to Council.
