Sunday Worship Service (29th December, 2024): Topic: Finishing Strong and Finishing Well through the Prayer Altar
By Pastor Kola Oyekale
God desires us to be an altar. The quality of what goes on your altar determines your spiritual capacity. Your ability to break even largely depends on the activities on your altar.
Types Of Altar:
1. Personal Altar: This is the altar of your heart. This altar must be established for all other altars to stand.
2. House Altar
3. Heaven Altar
4. Hallow Altar: which is the church.
The day you gave your life to Jesus, you drew a battle between yourself and the kingdom of darkness. The kingdom of darkness will not stand aloof with you messing them up.
Jesus came to make a mess up and mockery of the kingdom of darkness.
There was an altar raised against you when you went against the kingdom of darkness. You need to be strong in the Lord to fight against that altar.
When you became born again, you came into God’s plan and agenda for your life.
Altar is a portal where the realm of the spirit meets with the physical realm.
You can travel by distance (via plane, bus, car, train) or by dimension.
You must be a spirit being to travel by dimension because that realm is higher and more powerful.
An effective altar determines how far you will go in this kingdom.
In the remaining days of this year, commit yourself to praising, worshipping and thanking God.
2 Chronicles 20:20-22 NLT
[20] Early the next morning the army of Judah went out into the wilderness of Tekoa. On the way Jehoshaphat stopped and said, “Listen to me, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Believe in the Lord your God, and you will be able to stand firm. Believe in his prophets, and you will succeed.” [21] After consulting the people, the king appointed singers to walk ahead of the army, singing to the Lord and praising him for his holy splendor. This is what they sang: “Give thanks to the Lord; his faithful love endures forever!” [22] At the very moment they began to sing and give praise, the Lord caused the armies of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir to start fighting among themselves.
The realm of the spirit has a structure. Things don’t just happen there.
Every where we find ourselves, there is first a spirit realm. Territories, nations and thrones are possessed.
There are things to contend with in life through prayer.
The effectiveness of your altar is the quality of your prayer life.
2 Corinthians 2:11 NLT
[11] so that Satan will not outsmart us. For we are familiar with his evil schemes.
Ephesians 6:12-13 NLT
[12] For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. [13] Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.
The physical did not just exist. It first appeared in the spirit.
Before anything happens in the physical, it happened in the spirit.
There is a realm of the spirit that always want to confront your life.
Colossians 1:15 NLT
[15] Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation,
The invisible realm existed before the physical realm and controls the physical realm.
All things are created through Jesus and for him.
We have: thrones, dominion, principalities and power.
Relationship between a throne and altar:
A throne is where you meet a king, an altar is where you worship the king.
A throne is a seat of authority, an altar is a place of sacrifice.
The power behind the altar comes from who seats on the throne. It comes from what kind of sacrifices you give to the one who seat on the throne.
If Jesus is enthroned in your life, then you altar is definitely greater than any other altar by the reason of the kind of sacrifices you give the king (Jesus).
The one who is enthroned as king in this kingdom of light will mesmerize and destroy every altar that stem from the kingdom of darkness in your life.
Hebrews 12:27 MSG
The phrase “one last shaking” means a thorough housecleaning, getting rid of all the historical and religious junk so that the unshakable essentials stand clear and uncluttered.
The stronger your altar, the weaker other altars and the more easier for you to experience God in a unique and mighty way and to become all God has destined you to be.
The deeper you are in God, the more you think and act like God, the more the resources from heaven flow inside of you and the weaker the influence of the enemy in your life.
Prayer: Lord, give me grace to finish strong and to keep the fire on my altar burning in Jesus name.
