Sunday Worship Service (19th January, 2025): Theme For the Month: Understanding the Role of the Holy Spirit in a Believer’s Life
By Pastor Kola Oyekale
Theme for the Year: Restoration of Glory
Text: John 16:13 AMP
[13] But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth [full and complete truth]. For He will not speak on His own initiative, but He will speak whatever He hears [from the Father—the message regarding the Son], and He will disclose to you what is to come [in the future].
The reason why we struggle in life is because we don’t know the things to come.
John 16:14 AMP
[14] He will glorify and honor Me, because He (the Holy Spirit) will take from what is Mine and will disclose it to you.
The whole essence and the role of the Holy Spirit in your life is that he will glorify God through your life. The joy of the Holy Spirit is that your life becomes encapsulated with the glory of God and when people see you, they see that glory.
Topic: The Principle of First Fruit
If God is first in your life, everything will fall in line in your life.
If you hold this principle seriously, everything will fall in place irrespective of any challenge you may face.
In a falling world, you need to lean on the one who is stable and that is God.
Making God first establishes his Lordship over your life.
The one who puts God first totally depends on God and not his strength or abilities.
First fruit is a mark of honour.
Proverbs 3:9-10 AMP
[9] Honor the Lord with your wealth And with the first fruits of all your crops (income); [10] Then your barns will be abundantly filled And your vats will overflow with new wine.
Exodus 23:19 AMP
[19] “You shall bring the choice first fruits of your ground into the house of the Lord your God. “You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.
First fruit is the initial or first harvest of one’s labour. It doesn’t necessarily refer to agriculture, it refer to the income you receive from your labour or service.
Payment of first fruit is not compulsory, it is a choice. It is Biblical and has its rewards.
When you rejoice, you bring glory to God. This will be your portion in Jesus name.
Giving your first fruit is giving God what you most cherish.
First fruit shows where you place God in your life and your love for God.
It also shows the level of your commitment towards God and God’s commitment towards you.
First fruit shows you make God your priority.
It is an act of deliverance by releasing your Ishmael so you can have your Isaac.
Your first fruit offering secures and ensures your future harvest.
Romans 11:16 AMP
[16] If the first portion [of dough offered as the first fruits] is holy, so is the whole batch; and if the root (Abraham, the patriarchs) is holy, so are the branches (the Israelites).
If your first fruit is holy, every other resource is holy and preserved, nothing will take it.
Exodus 22:29-31 AMP
[29] “You shall not delay the offering from your harvest and your vintage. You shall give (consecrate, dedicate) to Me the firstborn of your sons. [30] You shall do the same with your oxen and with your sheep. It shall be with its mother for seven days; on the eighth day you shall give it [as an offering] to Me. [31] “You shall be holy men to Me; therefore you shall not eat meat [from any animal] that has been torn to pieces [by predators] in the field; you shall throw it to the dogs.
God will accept your first fruit to secure your future.
We get power through:
1. Intimacy
2. Principle
3. Prophetic utterances
Intimacy is the highest. The closer you are to God, the more he rubs you with his image.
Whatever portion you give, either half, quarter, full.. it all depends on your trust level and confidence in God.
Benefits of First Fruit:
1. Uncommon good health
2. Uncommon favour
3. Release of destiny helpers
4. Uncommon doors of breakthrough
5. You become a source of blessing to your children and generation
6. Acceleration
We are the hindrances to God’s glory by our words, thoughts and actions. We either increase the tangible presence of God or hinder his presence.
May our lives showcase God’s glory in Jesus name.
