Sokoto Ministry of Health gears up for formal sector program launch

The Sokoto State Ministry of Health is intensifying efforts to ensure the successful rollout of its Formal Sector Program, designed to provide affordable healthcare for state and local government workers, as well as pensioners.

As part of its preparations, the Ministry held a roundtable meeting with heads of its parastatals and directors to align strategies for the program’s implementation.

Change of Name

Speaking during the meeting, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Asabe Balarabe, highlighted the importance of extending program awareness to all local government areas. She reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to delivering a healthcare system that meets the needs of workers and retirees in the state.

Dr. Balarabe noted that collaboration between the Ministry and its agencies is key to achieving the desired outcomes of the Formal Sector Program.

In an interview after the meeting, the Special Adviser to the Sokoto State Contributory Healthcare Scheme and Agency Trust (SOSACAT), Sale Ibrahim Durbawa, and the Head of the Drug and Medical Supply Agency, Pharm. Umar Attahiru, expressed confidence in the readiness of their teams to execute the program effectively.

The Director-General of the Sokoto State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency, Yusuf Abu Abdulkareem, recently confirmed that all arrangements for the program’s commencement are in place, with the launch expected soon.

This initiative is part of the state government’s broader strategy to improve access to quality healthcare for its workforce and pensioners.
