Should a Christian drink alcohol? – Apostle Suleman answers critical question
The Nigerian Televangelist and the Senior Pastor and General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, Apostle Johnson Suleman answers one of the most controversial questions in Christendom, which is “Should a Christian drink alcohol?”
Here is everything Apostle Johnson Suleman said in the video:
“Listen, for everyone that is addicted to alcohol and they feel that it just a normal thing, because Jesus turned water to wine. I’m going to give you several scriptures today, Proverbs 23v29 says, “Who hath woe?” That’s one. “Who hath sorrow?” That’s two. “Who hath contentions?” That’s three. Who hath babbling?” That’s four. “Who hath wounds without cause”? That’s five. “Who hath readiness of eyes?” In verse 30 to 31 it says, “They that tarry long at the wine, they that go to seek mixed wine, look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it give it color in the cup.” Red wine, God said avoid it, it’s in the Bible. Some will say they take one tip, just one shot for blood tonic for the heart.
You see, some say drink but don’t be drunk, the problem in life is that you cannot control addiction, it start with just a little. There are people that will pressure you to drink yet they cannot lend you free money.
Galatians 5v29 says, “Now the works of the flesh are manifest which are these: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, murders, drunkenness…” So God compares a drunkard to a witch. God compares a drunkard to murderer.
See the way God kept side by side murder, witchcraft, adultery, all of them and said, when you do all these and you drink, before me they are equal. In Habakkuk 2v15 it says, “Woe to him that give his neighbor drink, that put my bottle to him and make him drunk also, that thou may look on their nakedness. Proverb 20v1 says, “Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging and whoever is deceived thereby is not wise.”
God told me to tear this down because many people in the Church still drink alcohol. Wine makes you mean, beer makes you quarrelsome, a staggering drink is not much fun. Drinking too much makes you loud and foolish. It’s stupid to get drunk. Addiction is a process, if someone is going to be addicted in life, it’s a process.”
