Senator Gyang presents kits to 73 teams ahead of football tournament in Plateau

Senator Representing Plateau North Senatorial Zone in the National Assembly Sen. Istifanus Gyang has presented jerseys and balls to 73 teams who would participate in the forthcoming Peace football tournament he organised in his constituency.

Gyang while presenting the items to the various teams on Thursday in Jos, said the initiative aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence and unity in the zone and the state in general.

He also explained that the initiative would enable young people showcase their God-given talents in the game of football.

He added that the competition would as well provide entertainment for football lovers in the state and beyond.

“This tournament is an initiative and mechanism for peace in Plateau North.

“This tournament will also enable us to attain the objective of availing the youth the opportunity to showcase their talents in football artistry and provide entertainment for football enthusiasts.

“Through this tournament, talents shall be discovered from grassroots that will be developed and groomed to become professional players in the near future,”he said

The lawmaker said the tournament was organised devoid of political, religious or ethnic affiliations, insisting that he is for all.

In brief remarks, Captain of the Super Eagles, Ahmed Musa, lauded the Senator for the initiative and promised to support the competition achieve its aim.

Musa promised a cash donation of N3 million, N2 million and N1 million to the teams that would emerge first, second and third in the competition.

CAPITAL POST reports that the teams were drawn from the 73 electoral wards that make up the Plateau North Senatorial Zone.

The Senatorial Zone consist of Jos South, Jos North, Bassa, Barkin Ladi, Riyom and Jos East local government areas of Plateau State

Meanwhile Senator Gyang has commiserated with the Kaze’s over the demise of their patriarch Pastor Bulus Kaze.

Senator Gyang appreciated the life and time of late Baba Bulus Kaze and the opportunity God gave him to give birth to Hon. Kaze and his siblings.

Hon. Peter Ibrahim Gyendeng, Hon. Timothy Dantong and Hon. Esther Dusu were on the Senator’s entourage.

Hon. Kaze in his response appreciated the Senator and the team for coming through at the time of his family’s bereavement. He added that Baba died peacefully at the ripe age of 99.
