Section 84(12): APC bans political appointees from voting during convention

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has banned all political appointees from voting during Saturday’s national convention.

The party in a statement on Thursday in Abuja, titled: “Attention to political office holders who were elected as delegates”, said they will not vote, but can act as observers.

Change of Name

The statement said: “The National Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of APC has declared that all political appointees who were elected as delegates to the National Convention slated for 26/3/2022 SHALL NOT VOTE in view of the controversy surrounding Section 84 (12) of the Electoral Act,2022.

Section 84(12) of the electoral amended Act has stopped political appointees from serving as delegates. It also require political appointees to o resign from office before contesting for political offices.
