Protest against Matawalle targeted at President Tinubu – APC group
The All Progressives Congress, APC Zamfara State chapter has claimed that recent protests against the Minister of State for Defence and former governor of Zamfara, Bello Mohammed Matawalle was actually targeted at President Bola Tinubu.
The group said, protesters are unprogressive elements who are out to detract President Tinubu, using Matawalle as a decoy to carry out their evil activities against the president not to re-contest the 2027 presidential election.
APC, in a statement by its spokesperson in Zamfara State, Yusuf Idris, said the protesters, largely made up of a rented crowd marched to the Headquarters of the EFCC in Abuja asking the anti graft agency to investigate the Minister.
CAPITAL POST recalled that Bello Matawalle has been battling with alleged embezzlement of N70 billion belonging to Zamfara State government when he governed the State.
However, the group claimed that protesters were giving frivolous claims which if there were true, the EFCC would have gone after Matawalle, but their sponsors have resorted to rented crowd.
“The rented crowd ignorant of the national laws constitutional and judicial process in the operations of anti graft agencies against a suspect resorted in a protest of envy and vendetta against the rising popularity of the Minister Bello Matawalle”, the statement added.
