Plateau business mogul, Ropshik calls for economic empowerment, industrial development in Plateau
The 2023 Plateau State Governorship Aspirant and CEO of Kefiano Motors chief Kefas Ropshik has commend the commitment of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for interfacing with the Business community in Jos
Speaking during a dinner organized by the Plateau State Government with the business community held at the Government House Jos, he emphasized the need for economic empowerment and industrial development in Plateau State.
Chief Ropshik stressed that the essence of business is to earn a living and create wealth, but the problem of capital flight has hindered the state’s economic growth.
He pleaded and suggested that the state government pass a law mandating that at least 70% of government contracts be awarded to Plateau indigenes, ensuring that money circulates within the state and improves the quality of life for its people.
CEO Ropshik also highlighted the need for entrepreneurship development, noting that 70-80% of businesses in the state are run by non-indigenes.
He advised the government to establish programs that identify and empower local entrepreneurs, providing them with necessary training, start-up capital, and data management systems.
Hon. Ropshik popularity known as Kefiano emphasized the importance of industrial development, and plead with the government to establish industries such as rice mills and maize processing factories.
He believed that this would transform Plateau’s economy and create employment opportunities for its people
Hon. Kefas Ropshik however issued a plea to Governor Mutfwang, challenging him to establish an institutional framework that monitors and evaluates job performance in the state. This, he advised, would ensure quality workmanship, particularly in construction projects and other government agencies, by providing a mechanism for expert evaluation and assessment.
