Plateau APC guber aspirants protests, calls for cancellation of primaries
Aggrieved governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau state have demanded for the cancellation of the just concluded gubernatorial primaries held in the state that produces Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda as the party candidate alleging irregularities.
The aggrieved aspirants made their demand known on Saturday in Jos, in a press statement issued to Journalists by its Secretary, Dr Danyaro Dakon Sarpiya.
“A declaration that the gubernatorial primaries held on the 26th May 2022; is null and void and liable to be set aside,” they stated.
The group queried the process delegates, who participated in the said election emerged, it therefore, called for a review.
According to the group, the delegates election did not follow due process.
“An order for review of congresses from the ward level upwards for the proper election of delegates to participate in another primaries to produce a credible candidate.
“A declaration that the gubernatorial primaries held on the 26th May, 2022 that returned Dr Nentawe Yilwatdat is not in consonance with the APC guidelines for the nomination of candidates for 2023 general election,” the statement read.
It alleged that Dr Yilwatdat, who was declared winner of the delegates elections is not qualified to contest the said party primaries.
It also alleged that most of the aspirants were short-changed.
“The over 80 percent of the delegates literally handed over their ballot paper to the agent of the purported winner, who filled in what he wanted as their votes,” the statement added.
The aggrieved Plateau APC gubernatorial aspirants said it has taken its complain to the National Secretariat of the APC for redress.
