The Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives has extended hearty felicitations to Nigerians both at home and abroad on the occasion of the New Year.

The Caucus also congratulated Nigerians on the privilege of witnessing the New Year in peace and tranquility.

In its 2025 message, signed by Minority Leader Rep. O. K. Chinda, Minority Whip Rt. Hon. Dr. Ali Isa J.C., Deputy Minority Leader Rt. Hon. Aliyu Madaki, and Deputy Minority Whip Rt. Hon. George Ozodinobi, the Caucus emphasized that the season offers an opportunity for serious reflection and objective introspection about Nigeria’s journey.

According to the message, Nigeria’s progress continues to face significant challenges that hinder individual growth and collective prosperity.

“Indeed, the situation of our country, particularly in 2024, was distressing and worrisome, stifling the personal development of many citizens. From spiraling inflation to pervasive poverty and debilitating hunger, the condition was dire for many. The issues of rising unemployment, alarming insecurity, and other troubling multi-sectoral indices of underdevelopment further compounded the challenges.

“As the country enters 2025, it is imperative to acknowledge that while Nigeria grapples with issues of governance and lack of inclusive economic growth, there is an urgent need to address infrastructure deficits, unchecked corruption, youth unemployment, and widespread insecurity.

“Nation-building is a continuous task. We urge Nigerians to collectively contribute to overcoming these challenges in 2025. We also call on leaders at all levels to commit themselves wholeheartedly and truthfully to the re-engineering, repositioning, and reawakening of Nigeria towards achieving meaningful and significant development across all sectors.

“Nigeria is a blessed nation with enormous potential, and our diversity remains one of our greatest assets. In 2025, we must harness the strengths embedded in our differences to build a nation that works for all citizens. Since no tribe, ethnicity, or group—no matter how powerful—can achieve this alone, we solicit collaboration and synergy among all Nigerians. Through inclusivity, mutual trust, and collective efforts, Nigeria can overcome its challenges and achieve sustainable development.

“As we collectively forge ahead in 2025, we encourage all Nigerians to recommit to the values of peace, unity, and progress, with the understanding that the country’s future rests on our ability to remain united and work together toward common goals and aspirations.

“As a responsive and responsible Caucus, we assure Nigerians of our continued commitment to their well-being. In 2025 and beyond, during the life span of the 10th House of Representatives, we will remain resolute and focused on addressing every national issue requiring legislative intervention and action,” the Caucus noted.
