Minna: NBA vows to defend ‘rule of law’
The leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Minna branch missions is to uphold the pillars of justice, defend the rule of law, and advance the cause of equality for all the chairman of the NBA Minna branch Barrister Isyaku Barau has assured.
He stated that the leadership of the association under the current leadership of the Bar has embarked on a journey of renewal and transformation, stressing that the mission is not just a duty but a calling to stand as guardians of justice in “our community”.
Speaking at the formal inauguration of the newly elected executive of the association which took place at the High Court complex in Minna, Friday, Barrister Isyaku Barau noted that he sees the boundless opportunities awaiting the new leadership of the Bar.
“Opportunities to make a real difference in the lives of the people we serve. Opportunities to champion the rights of the oppressed and the less privilege. Opportunities to safeguard and promote the Independence of Judiciary.
“Opportunities to shape the legal landscape of Minna branch and Niger State and leave a legacy of integrity and excellence” he stated.
According to the NBA Chairman, the new leadership must also confront the challenges that lie before them adding that the road ahead of them “may be fraught with obstacles, but Iam confident that with our collective strength and determination, we can overcome them all”.
He admonished members of the association to embrace these challenges noting that as opportunities for growth and renewal, Knowing that adversity only strengthen the collective resolve of the members.
“Together, we are force to be reckoned with-a force for Justice, for fairness, and for progress.
“But we cannot do it alone. We must unite as one, drawing upon the diverse talents, wisdom and experiences of our elders, seniors and members to forge a path forward. Together, we achieve greatness”, he stated.
He called on every members of the association in the branch to partner with him and his team in the years ahead in the Noble endeavor towards building a future where justice reigns supreme and rule of law is upheld without fail.
The Judiciary, according to the chairman as the fountain of justice, is the running stream where thirsty citizens quench their thirst, pointing out that as lawyers, the Judiciary is the mother whom they honor, guard, and defend jealously and his administration will sustain the momentum.
While applauding the urban renewal stride of governor Mohammed Umar Bago, Barrister Isyaku Barau called on him to ensure full financial indepenece for Judiciary to Forster a more egalitarian society in Niger state.
In his farewell speech, the out-going chairman of the association, Mohammed Waziri Abdulkadir, noted that the success and achievements recorded during his tenured was the collective efforts of the members
He said the dedication, hard work and collaborative spirit of the members have the journey a remarkable one adding that they have navigated through numerous challenges.
“Each one testing our resolve and commitment. We faced issues of justice and legal reforms, striving to uphold the highest standard of our profession in the face of adversity. Together we have made significant strides and I am proud of what we have accomplished”, he asserted.
