The root cause of Nigeria’s woes are traceable to the failure of family units, the Deputy National Secretary of Labour Party (LP), Prince Kennedy Ahanotu, has said.

Speaking on Friday when he was presented with a Leadership Ambassador Award by the Kabusa Ward of the Labour Party in the Federal Capital Territory, he said, family units must be able to take care of their failures for the nation to tackle its challenges.

While insisting that the party was poised to redefine leadership in the country, Prince Ahanotu lamented that for long “Nigerians have been taken for a ride,” adding that “people should no longer trust in inanimate objects like brooms, umbrella, and other items like snakes, termites that swallow public funds.”

The former House of Representatives aspirant for Abuja Metropolitan Area Council (AMAC) in the 2019 elections disclosed that “LP remains the only political party that represents social democracy and that is committed to advancing the welfare of the people.

LP is the only political party in terms of policies and ideology to deliver Nigeria from the shackles of insecurity, poverty, and other malaises that have come upon her as a result of bad leadership.”

While recalling his journey in politics, the Award recipient pledged to continue to give his best work towards ensuring the betterment of the country.

This is even as he urged Nigerians to shun ethnicity and religious sentiments in the 2023 elections, insisting that “the end has come to poor governance and corruption.”

He further explained that “holding public trust should not be considered as an opportunity to embezzle public funds.

My part in leadership is not to take advantage of the system but to contribute to the development of the country.”

Prince Ahanotu who expressed happiness at his constituency for the gesture, described the Award as the first in his time as a political stakeholder.

Accordingly, he stressed that “LP was getting ready to produce the next President of Nigeria.”

“2023 will be a government of the people, by the people and for the people. The youths have to make a bold statement at the polling units during the elections.

So I’m dedicating this Award to Nigerians from all walks of life. Unfortunately today’s Nigeria is not the dream of the founding fathers,” he lamented.

In his remarks, the Deputy National Chairman, North East, Alkali Ibrahim described the gathering “as a reflection of the will of the masses,” adding that the Award shows how highly the ward thought of the Deputy National Secretary.

Alkali commended the recipient for his humility, honesty and diligence in the discharge of party goals.

In his remarks, Labour Party Chairman, Kabusa Ward, Ikechukwu Meje said the event is to “honour the Deputy National Secretary for ensuring that the party is moving forward in the ward.”

He called on the national leadership for increased support to enable Prince Ahanotu translate LP ideology to the grassroots.

Those present at the event include Alkali Ibrahim, Deputy National Chairman, North East, National Treasurer, Oluchi Okpara, LP FCT Chairman, Peter Dukwu and Chairman, Kabusa Ward, Ikechikwu Meje.

Others are some party officials and a delegation from Kabusa Ward.
