Kogi West: Karimi defeats Senator Adeyemi to clinch APC 2023 ticket
Hon Steve Karimi has won the Kogi West Senatorial district ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 general election which held in Kabba on Saturday.
Karimi scored 227 votes to beat the incumbent Senator Smart Adeyemi who attempted a return ticket for the fourth time to the Senate.
Hon. Karimi formerly represented Yagba Federal Constituency of Kogi State from 2011 to 2016 in the House of Representatives.
Others who lost to the former lawmaker in the lower legislative Chamber are,
Dr. Muri Aina 73, Mrs Adedoyin Eshanumi 1, Mohammed Wambai 9 Votes.
In his speech, Karimi vowed not to disappoint his constituents if eventually elected at the general election to represent the Senatorial district, adding that it was a confidence reposed in him by the APC delegates.
He described the contest as that of brothers with no ‘winner, no vanguished’.
He particularly paid glowing tribute to all the contestants who made sacrifices, described them as equals, said it was only normal that only one person would fly the party‘s flag.
To face the general election, Karimi promises to reach out to all those who contested with him so that they could work together.
