Kogi Federal Medical Centre close facilities due to COVID-19 [Document]]
The Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja has closed down its facilities from further medical attention to patients due to COVID-19, index case that tested positive in the hospital.
In a leaked memo by the Medical Director, Dr Olatide Oladeji Alabi, which was obtained by CAPITAL POST in Lokoja dated 5th June 2020, it said a particular accident patient was brought to the hospital, but was requested for coronavirus test and eventually returned positive.
Apprehensive of the development, and as part of precautionary measures, the Medical Director in a memo directed that no patient should be admitted into the facility, until the complex has been decontaminated.
He said the hospital ambulances should be restricted to the use of hospital only while it advised that contact tracing of those who handled the index case should begin.
