Influx of ‘Almajiri’ into FCT worries Wike, plans operation flush out

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike is deeply concerned about the influx of Almajiri into the Federal Capital Territory.

The Minister has as a result of this development appealed to residents of the FCT to be security conscious and report to security agents crime committed anywhere within the Territory.

With a view to flush out the Amajiriout of the Federal Capital Territory, the Minister on Tuesday set up a Committee to tackle the menace.
This development was disclosed by the Commissioner of Police, FCT, Olatunji Disu, while briefing journalists after a closed-door security meeting chaired by the FCT Minister.
The Police boss said the move to tackle Almajiri in FCT was for security purposes, as security agents would be,kept abreast with details of activities of Almajiri.
Though he dismissed questions bordering on security threats in the nation’s capital, Disu appealed to residents to be security conscious and report any suspicious activity to security agencies.
The committee which comprises the Nigerian Police, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Department of State Service (DSS) amongst others have been mandated to report back within two weeks.
Meanwhile, the FCT Commissioner of Police disclosed that the command has arrested five suspects for various crimes.
