“The forthcoming Anambra governorship election must be well coordinated. Together, we should continue to give Nigerians a happy experience on Election Day and beyond,” he said.

Yakubu outlined the commission’s plans, noting that elections in Anambra will take place in 5,720 polling units, while the FCT polls will cover 68 constituencies. He also revealed that INEC is preparing for bye-elections to fill 16 vacancies in the National and State Assemblies.

The INEC Chairman expressed concern over vote-buying, calling for stronger enforcement. “Beyond the arrest of vote buyers on Election Day, our active partnership with law enforcement has led to successful prosecutions in three states,” he stated.

The National Security Adviser, who co-chairs ICCES, assured that security agencies are committed to preventing election violence and ensuring a peaceful voting process.

The meeting marks the first quarterly consultative session for 2025, setting the stage for preparations ahead of the November 8 Anambra governorship election and the FCT Area Council elections in February 2026.
