Immigration Officer suspected to be working with criminals arrested with assorted firearms in Abuja

An immigration officer was on Monday arrested by Police Operatives attached to the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Command for possessing assorted firearms and ammunition, he could not explain how he came about them.

Though Police authority was yet to disclose his name as at press time, the suspect was arrested around Zuma area of Abuja in the afternoon while on the way to where he was taking the firearms to.
The FCT Police command suspected the immigration officer to have been procuring arms and ammunition for criminals as he could explain what the assorted firearms were meant for.
According to the Police, the immigration officer was trailed to the point of his arrest after an intelligent report was obtained regarding a missing person.
Upon searching the suspect, police recovered a cache of weapons, including rifles and pistols. A source revealed that the seized items included, “four AK-47 magazines; four magazines of CZ Scorpion rifle; two CZ Scorpion rifles, 139mm ammunition and two Diakon and CZ pistols.”
FCT Commissioner of Police (CP) Olatunji Disu has confirmed the arrest.
CAPITAL POST reports that security agents across boards have been battling with recurrent criminal acts with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, insisting that criminals must be tackled in the territory.
