I support probe of my father’s administration, if bias unintended – El-Rufai’s eldest son

Member representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, has indicated he will support the probe of his father, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, who is the immediate past governor of Kaduna State, if bias was unintended.

Mohammed, who is the eldest son of El-Rufai, said he is at peace if the administration of his father would be probed with clear and unintended bias, stating that he believed that his father’s administration was transparent enough in all dealings.

Mohammed who was elected member in 2023 general election and in his first term of office speaking with the BBC Hausa Service on Saturday and monitored by CAPITAL POST in Abuja, stressed that a probe that is devoid of personal scores and sentiments is welcome as far as he is concerned.
He insisted that the probe should not be used as a political weapon against his father or anyone else.
“If done for selfish reasons, such inquiries only harm progress,” he said.
He said, the rift between his father and governor Uba Sani was exaggerated in the media, adding that both may reconcile at the proper time, but it was not within his responsibility to reconcile them.
He stated that he wasn’t happy with what he called ‘cold war’ between his father and governor Uba Sani, admitting that both played crucial roles in his life that brought him to where he is today.
He said, “Some people are delighted, seeing my father and the Governor enmeshed in a conflict, just like the legendary Bollywood actors, Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra fighting.”
CAPITAL POST recalled that Kaduna State House of Assembly has submitted a report indicting the former governor of misappropriating the sum of N432 billion belonging to Kaduna state government within eight years of his administration.
