‘Hezbollah is endangering you’: Hagari warns Lebanese near terror targets to flee South Lebanon

Hagari’s warning was unusual and different from mass evacuation warnings issued to date in Gaza.

The IDF, around 6:30 a.m. on Monday, initiated a fifth round of massive air strikes on Hezbollah, especially in southern Lebanon, including further from the border than in some prior cases. Starting Monday morning, the IDF has attacked over 150 targets using dozens of fighter jets from all Air Force squadrons.

There were also significant attacks against Hezbollah deep into Lebanon in the Bekaa Valley.

IDF Chief Spokesman Daniel Hagari, for the first time, issued a broad warning to the general public in southern Lebanon that if they have not already moved away from houses and other civilian buildings where they live and reside – but where Hezbollah has stored rockets or undertaken other actions – now they must leave those areas.

Hagari’s warning was unusual and different from mass evacuation warnings issued to date in Gaza.

The warning was the first sort of mass evacuation warning to southern Lebanese regarding areas where Hezbollah is operating.

Continuing in that vein, hundreds of thousands of southern Lebanese civilians have evacuated areas that the IDF has been attacking already for several months.

So, a warning was issued to those who have not yet evacuated.

Not a complete evacuation

However, the IDF did not tell the southern Lebanese civilians that they must completely leave the area to move to some other further away specified area.

It was not clear where the IDF would suggest these evacuating civilians should go permanently if, in fact, their homes were to get bombed due to holding terror assets.

Also, it was not like a Gaza evacuation, as Hagari did not yet suggest that the IDF would be invading with ground troops, but more that it would be striking with additional intensity from the air, including at civilian locations where terror assets have been located.

To illustrate his point, Hagari displayed an example of a southern Lebanese civilian location where the IDF, a few weeks ago, watched Hezbollah knock down some of the walls in order to set up a camouflaged civilian location for the firing of a Russian-made DR-4 cruise missile, with hundreds of kilos of explosives.

“We are exposing Hezbollah’s tactic of hiding a cruise missile inside a residential home. The terrorists created a designated opening to launch the missile,” Hagari explained.

Hagari said that the cruise missile, a much larger danger than typical Hezbollah rockets because it flies lower and faster in a line-drive type fashion as opposed to rockets, which fly slower and in an arch trajectory, had been smuggled to Hezbollah via Syria.

Next, Hagari showed the IDF watching Hezbollah terrorists exiting the area.

Finally, he showed the IDF blowing up both the cruise missile and the civilian location where it was hidden, along with the Hezbollah terrorists.

“Here, you can see how we identified the terrorists as they made an opening in the building, revealing the missile. In a precise strike, the IDF neutralized both the terrorists and the missile launch infrastructure just moments before the planned launch,” Hagari explained.

One of the purposes of Hagari’s public statements, which have subtitles in Arabic, was to broaden the warning to southern Lebanese civilians to leave such areas, while another purpose was to preempt Western criticism for targeting civilian areas, to explain the IDF’s justification.

Under international law, civilian areas can be targeted if warnings are provided and if those areas have been used for military purposes.

In addition, the IDF said that it had shot down attempted aerial attacks from Iraq around 4:00 a.m.

Hagari’s warning

Hagari, warning the Lebanese civilians, emphasized, “Hezbollah is endangering you and your families. Hezbollah is planning to launch weapons against Israel, and you should distance yourselves immediately for your safety.”

“We are exposing Hezbollah’s tactic of hiding a cruise missile inside a residential home. The terrorists created a designated opening to launch the missile,” he added.

Furthermore, the IDF sent out text messages to the southern Lebanese citizens urging them to stay away from Hezbollah structures, Israeli media reported.

“If you are in a building containing Hezbollah weapons, move away immediately until further notice,” the text message sent to the civilians reportedly read.

According to a Reuters reporter, shortly afterward, residents in southern Lebanon also received calls from a Lebanese number ordering them to immediately distance themselves 1,000 meters from any Hezbollah post.

Additionally, Haragi addressed the evacuated citizens of Israel’s North, stating that he “will do whatever is necessary to restore citizens to their homes and ensure their safety.”

“We will do whatever is necessary to restore northern citizens to their homes. We are operating on an undercover operation, and we continue to do so to protect the citizens of Israel,” Haragi emphasized.

Hezbollah’s human shields

According to Ynet, ten years ago, Hezbollah launched a secret initiative to offer financial incentives to Shia households in southern Lebanon if they allocated a room of their house to a long range missile launcher. The missile, with a heavy warhead, would be ready to launch from that room. The room would have a removable roof, allowing it to be fired quickly.

Ynet added that Hezbollah specifically chose poor Shia families who needed extra income. Reportedly, Hezbollah purchased plots of land and constructed residential homes on them, offering them at a reduced price of for free if the families were willing to store missiles.

Can neither confirm nor deny if Sinwar is alive

When Hagari was asked about the last time the IDF received a sign of life from Hamas Head Yahya Sinwar, Hagari responded that he could neither confirm nor deny if Sinwar was alive.

This question from the press toward Haragi came after circulating speculations and reports on Sunday that Sinwar had been killed.

“Regarding what has come up in the past days about Sinwar’s situation, I can neither confirm nor deny it,” Hagari stated.

“We have one mission—to reach Sinwar, and we will,” he emphasized.

Fubara orders bombing of House of Assembly – Former Rivers HoS

Published

The Ex-Head of Service of Rivers State, George Nwaeke has revealed how the embattled Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara ordered bombing of the State House of Assembly complex in 2023 to avoid impeachment moves by legislators loyal to Chief Nyesom Wike.

The governor who was suspended from office in the heat of crisis rocking the State however, swiftly denied the allegation and urged the public to disregard it.

The former HoS who resigned from office recently gave the revelation during a press briefing on Friday in Port Harcourt, adding that bag of money was allegedly handed over to the former House of Assembly leader, Edison Ehie, who later became Fubara’s Chief of Staff to attack the Assembly complex located along Moscow Road, Port Harcourt.

He said, “First, it all started with the Rivers State House of Assembly, where Governor Siminalayi Fubara directed his Chief of Staff (Edison Ehie) to burn down the Assembly to avert his impeachment. That evening, Edison was in Government House with two other boys, including the former Chairman of Obio/Akpor LGA, one Chijioke.

“I was there with them when a bag of money was handed over to Edison for that operation, though I do not know the amount inside. I want to tell the people of Rivers State today that the House of Assembly Complex on Moscow Road was deliberately brought down by Edison Ehie under the instructions of Governor Siminalayi Fubara. I challenge him to an open confrontation, and I will provide more details.

“A day after that incident, I almost resigned, but I was very scared because I knew the power of a sitting governor. He knew that I was aware of the whole plan and that I was uncomfortable with the unconscionable act and his deliberate posture of innocence.

“Another attempt was also made to destroy the residential quarters of the House of Assembly members. If not for the press conference held there by Rivers youths, Rivers elders, and National Assembly members, that would have been another barbaric demolition in Rivers State.

“I realised that they actually wanted to demolish that second building because, weeks later, he personally told me that if he had known earlier, he would have pulled down their hall before targeting the residential quarters of the Assembly. He didn’t realise they had such a beautiful hall where they are now holding their sittings.

“I was shocked and asked myself: how could a man who wants to lead his people be destroying state assets and wasting public funds on a needless ego fight?”

Nwaeke stated that he resigned voluntarily, countering speculations that he was sacked or pressured to leave.

“With the load of misinformation in print and electronic media, I have chosen to set the record straight.

“I was not sacked, nor was I pressured to resign; I did it willingly from the depth of my heart,” he clarified.

Nwaeke further alleged that another attempt was made to destroy the residential quarters of the House of Assembly members but was thwarted by a press conference held by Rivers youths, elders, and National Assembly members.

According to him, Fubara had openly expressed a desire to demolish more state property, raising concerns about his leadership style.

He also claimed that Fubara had made comments about using the Ijaw people to influence Nigeria’s presidency, referencing control over oil pipelines and potential disruptions.

Reacting, Fubara denied the allegations levelled against him, asking Nigerians to disregard them.

The governor described Nwaeke’s allegations as “laughable” in a statement he signed on Friday.

“The truth is that Dr. Nwaeke has been compromised, and whatever he is saying is only aimed at fulfilling his promise to those who may have paid or coerced him to lie against me.

“I call on all well-meaning Nigerians and the good people of Rivers State to disregard everything said by Dr. Nwaeke as they are mere desperate attempts to discredit me and my administration, and undermine the peace process by Mr. President,” he said.

Reps Minority Leaders says Tax Reform Bills would serve interest of citizens

Published

on

Member representing Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and Minority Leader of the House, Honourable Kingsley Chinda said, the Tax Reform Bills would serve the interest of citizens of Nigeria.

He spoke in defence of the passage of the recent tax reform bill, describing it as a product of diligent legislative work aimed at serving Nigerians’ interests.

Speaking to journalists at the National Assembly on Wednesday, Hon. Chinda emphasized that effective opposition does not require public confrontations but strategic engagement. He noted that the tax reform bill, initially flawed, was subjected to thorough scrutiny and stakeholder consultations before passage.

“We saw that the bill was not good enough for Nigerians, so we pushed for reforms,” Chinda stated. “We engaged the National Assembly leadership, consulted governors, state parliaments, and civil society groups to ensure the final version better served the people.”

While acknowledging that no law is perfect, he maintained that the revised bill represents significant progress, balancing public interest and economic needs.

On the PDP’s internal crisis, Chinda expressed disappointment over conflicting interpretations of the Supreme Court’s judgment affirming Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the party’s national secretary. He dismissed claims by some members still recognizing Chief Ndubuisi Okoye, describing such actions as misleading.

“The Supreme Court’s ruling was clear—Anyanwu was never lawfully removed and remains our national secretary,” Chinda said. He criticized the party’s National Organizing Secretary for causing confusion and urged members to seek clarification from the Peoples Democratic Party’s legal adviser instead of spreading misinformation.

Chinda, who is a leading opposition voice in the House, called for unity, cautioning against public disputes that damage the party’s image. “We must avoid washing our dirty linen in public. The judgment is final, and we should focus on strengthening the party ahead of future elections,” he advised.

Despite the Peoples Democratic Party’s challenges, Chinda expressed optimism about the party’s resurgence after its upcoming congresses and national convention. He urged members to prioritize Nigeria’s interests over personal ambitions, emphasizing that internal disagreements would not diminish the PDP’s role as a viable opposition.

On concerns about Nigeria drifting toward a one-party system, Chinda dismissed fears, stating that the PDP’s revival depends on strategic repositioning rather than the ruling All Progressives Congress’ actions. “We must go back to the drawing board, put the country first, and rebuild,” he concluded.

The Minority Leader’s remarks underscored his commitment to legislative diligence and party discipline, even as the PDP navigates its current turbulence.
