Federal Polytechnic Shendam will improve standard of education, says Plateau lawmaker
The Member Representing Shendam, Quan Pan, Mikang Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Alphonsus Komsol says the approval by President Muhammadu Buhari for the citing of a Federal Polytechnic in Shendam, Plateau State will help in improving the standard of education in the Constituency and the country at large.
Speaking with journalists in Jos, the Member said he re-introduced the bill which was first sponsored by his predecessor, Hon. Johnbull Shekarau at the 8th Assembly because of its importance and belief in continuity irrespective of party differences.
The Member appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for approving the citing of the project in Shendam as well as the approval of 2 billion naira for the provision of core facilities for immediate take off.
Komsol, who described the project as a dream come true, applauded the contribution of prominent sons and daughters of the area who include Governor Simon Lalong, Deputy Speaker House of Representatives Ahmed Idris and Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauleen Tallen.
The lawmaker said he has already come up with a bill for the establishment of a Federal Medical Centre, Piapung to meet the challenging health needs of his people, the Federal College of Agriculture Namu as well as some roads projects, all of which he believes will be concluded before the end of his tenure.
He said he has secured a Federal Government loan of 700 thousand Naira to over 30 beneficiaries and COVID 19 loan of between 500 thousand Naira to 2 million naira depending on the type of business.
The Lawmaker while speaking on the on-going APC membership registration described the process as satisfactory as a lot of mobilization has been made, with many people eager to register their membership with the ruling party.
