Betta Edu breaks fast with Emir, Acting Governor, others in Kano

In a remarkable demonstration of unity and interfaith harmony, Dr. Betta Edu hosted His Highness, the 15th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, CFR, to an Iftar (breaking of fast) gathering at her residence in Calabar. The Emir, who also serves as the Chancellor of the University of Calabar, was accompanied by his distinguished entourage.

Also present at the event was the Acting Governor of Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, alongside the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Professor Florence Obi. She led a delegation comprising the Chairman and members of the University’s Governing Council, the University Management, and the wider University Community, including students.

The gathering further witnessed the presence of the Leadership of the Muslim Community in Cross River State and other devoted Muslim faithful, all uniting in the spirit of Ramadan.

This interfaith gathering took place at a symbolic moment, coinciding with the Christian observance of Lent. It was a reflection of Nigeria’s rich cultural and religious diversity, reaffirming the nation’s long-standing values of peaceful coexistence and mutual respect.

Dr. Betta Edu commended the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for its unwavering commitment to fostering national unity, cultural appreciation, and interfaith harmony in alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

She extended her heartfelt wishes to the Muslim faithful during this sacred season of Ramadan, while also celebrating the Golden Jubilee of her alma mater, the University of Calabar.
