Ex-Rivers governor is dead

The former military administrator of Rivers State between 1986 and 1988, Brig. Gen. Anthony Ukpo is dead.

He died at the age of 74 on Monday, according to family sources made available in journalists in Calabar.

The ex-soldier died at his Usi Ikpo Calabar Hospital after a brief illness.
According to a family source, Ukpo died at the age of 74 in his Asi Ukpo Calabar Hospital on Monday morning after a brief illness,the Publisher Nigeria reports.
The late Ikpo who was born in Okpoma, Yala, Northern Cross River State, was also a former Minister of Information and Culture and rose through the ranks of the army to become a Brigadier General before retiring.
He governed Rovers State as a military administrator between 1986 and 1988 during the administration of General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida.
