The Minister of Women Affairs Hon. Dame Pauline Tallen has on behalf President Muhammadu Buhari appealed to the leadership of Christian Association of Nigeria Plateau State, Jama’atu Nasril Islam, JNI Plateau State, Traditional Rulers, Youth and Women in the state for calmness and pleads for peace while assuring justice for EndSARS victims.
Tallen who has relocated to Jos to embark on healing parleys with Stakeholders and mostly youths in the state as a result of #ENDSARS protest hijacked by hoodlums, said vandalism and looting of government and private properties in the state must stop.
While Speaking with CAN, JNI, Youth and Women in her resident in Rayfield Jos, she appealed to the youth to be patient and not to take the laws into their hands, and stop the vandalism and looting, saying, their problems have been heard, adding that President Buhari has vowed to tackle their demands.
She added that destroying properties in the state will only harm the state the more and draw it back as well as erode confidence of investors into the State.
The Minister expressed sadness over the looting of palliatives in Plateau State.
Tallen said she is pained over how criminal elements infiltrated the “EndSars Protest” which began as a movement for reforms in the Nigeria Police, to derail government’s strategic efforts to boost food security.
She promised to report the issues to President Buhari towards enabling the Federal Government to comprehensively tackle challenges emerging from the incident, saying it was the President that directed all Ministerd to visit their States to calm youths and women.
Mrs. Tallen appreciated Governor Simon Lalong for taking proactive steps to ensure calm after cases of looting of palliatives and vandalization of critical facilities were recorded in the state.
Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN Plateau State, Rev. Fr. Polycarp Lubo expressed the support of ENDSARS Protest and police brutality, but was quick to condemn the activities of those who seized the opportunity to loot.
He noted that the delay in the distribution of the palliatives contributed to the looting.
He called on Government to address the issue of unemployment among youths
He described Plateau state as a sensitive State and called for caution on the part of Government.
