Daura Community honours Samira Buhari as Daurama Karama

In an historic celebration of leadership and cultural heritage, the Emir of Daura, HRH Alhaji Umar Faruk Umar, over the weekend turbaned the Founder of Daurama Foundation, Dr. Samira Buhari a revered title of Daurama Karama, in Daura, Katsina State.

The elated Emir of Daura, Alhaji Faruk said, the community recognised the remarkable contributions Dr. Samira Buhari had made to the society and al underscores her enduring power of compassionate leadership and cultural integrity.

Change of Name

He pointed out that the title of Daurama Karama symbolises grace, resilience, and a deep commitment to community service. “By receiving this honour, Dr. Samira Buhari joins a lineage of esteemed leaders who have left indelible marks on their communities through visionary leadership and transformative action.

“The turbaning of Dr Samira as Daurama Karama reflects the rich heritage of Daura and the profound respect we have for leaders who embrace selfless service, integrity, and dedication to lawful duty.
Her efforts in championing healthcare, education, and women’s empowerment are exemplary, and her leadership is a beacon of hope for future generations.” HRH, Umar Faruk said.

Dr. Samira Buhari was turbaned alongside her brothers, Alhaji Ibrahim Salisu Buhari and Dr. Gazzali Salisu Buhari, marking a historic day for the Salisu Buhari family. Alhaji Ibrahim received the title of Iyan Daura, while Dr. Gazzali was honoured as the Makaman Kasar Hausa, reinforcing the family’s deep-rooted commitment to leadership and service.

Responding, Alhaji Ibrahim Salisu Buhari expressed his gratitude to the Emir, the community leaders and good people of Daura, saying, receiving the title is both humbling and motivating. It’s a reminder of the trust placed on us to contribute meaning fully to our community. We are committed to working together to support and up lift Daura and its people.”

Also speaking, Dr. Gazzali Salisu Buhari added that being named Makaman Kasar Hausa is a significant responsibility. It’s a call to honour our cultural heritage while also embracing the challenges of modern leadership. We look forward to fostering growth and unity within our community.”
