COVID-19: Akwa Ibom Police arrests 10 Pastors for conducting Church services
The Ekiti Divisional Police headquarters in Akwa Ibom State have apprehended over ten Pastors who conducted Sunday services against the lockdown order in the state.
The stay-at-home order which was announced by the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel became effective since Thursday.
Government’s directive was occasioned by National Center for Disease Control (NCDC)’s revelation that five persons have been infected with coronavirus in Akwa Ibom State.
However, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the umbrella body of Christian religious geoui in a statement, instructed churches not to hold services.
Among those arrested, CAPITAL POST gathered, are the Eket branch pastor of the Deeper Life Bible Church and a Pastor of the United African Evangelical church.
The Divisional Police officer, Mr Sunday Diggah, said the pastors would be prosecuted for violating the State Government’s stay-at-home order.
