Confusion hits APC, postpones inauguration of standing committees indefinitely
Following the rejection of appointment to serve as a member of finance committee by a Kano based billionaire, Abdulsamad Rabiu, the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, became confused and postponed the inauguration of the 5-man Committee indefinitely.
The billionaire declined his nomination through a statement issued by his company BUA group of companies, saying that he was not consulted prior to his nomination and also that he did not want to get indulged in politics.
The National Chairman of the APC and former governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on Thursday last week approved appointment of Abdulsamad Rabiu and others as members of Finance standing committee of the party, but on Monday the inauguration was scheduled for the day was abruptly cancelled and postponed indefinitely.
CAPITAL POST learnt that the decision was taken at the 138th National Working Committee, NWC meeting of APC at its national secretariat in Abuja.
The decision of the part organ was announced by its spokesperson, Felix Morka, while briefing journalists on Monday.
“The party has now postponed the inauguration of all the committees till further notice’, though Morka did not give details on reasons for the postponement, CAPITAL POST gathered that, it was not unconnected with Abdulsamad’s rejection of his appointment to serve in the Committee.
“Inauguration of the standing committees of the party scheduled to be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, has been postponed until further notice,” Mr Morka said.
