BREAKING: Soldiers arrest man with sophisticated weapons on transit to terrorists’ camp in Southern Kaduna
Soldiers of the Nigerian Army has arrested a man who was said to be a gunrunner and who supplies arms and ammunition to terrorists with sophisticated weapons while on his way to deliver them to terrorist and bandits in Southern Kaduna.
The Nigerian Army published the announcement on its verified X handle on Saturday, August 3, 2024.
The post read: “In fact, during the arrest of the man, whose name was given as Mallam Hashimu Ahmad”, the Nigerian Army said he was found with General Purpose Machine Gun, GPMG, a Rocket Propelled Grenade Launcher, one RPG bomb, 1.069 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition and one belt of 7.62mm NATO ammunition.
It said, the soldiers, in collaboration with other security agencies, intercepted the gunrunner at Saminaka in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The suspect, who was said to have been on the wanted list of the security agencies for supplying arms and ammunition to terrorists was reportedly arrested while he was on transit to deliver sophisticated weapons to the terrorists in the forest.
He is currently in the custody of the Nigerian Army while more investigations are ongoing over his activities.
