BREAKING: #Ondodecides: 87% Governorship election results uploaded on iREV – INEC
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded over 87 percent of the results from Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo State on its IReV portal.
With results from 2,934 out of 3,933 polling units already available, INEC expressed satisfaction with the election’s conduct, noting that voting commenced promptly across most areas and that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) encountered minimal issues.
Meanwhile, across Ondo State, INEC reported that over 87 percent of the election results have been uploaded on the IReV portal. With results from 2,934 out of 3,933 polling units already available, the commission expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the election, highlighting that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) functioned effectively with minimal issues. INEC officials, including the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola, monitored the process in various local governments, assuring that challenges were promptly addressed.
At Ondo East Local Government Area 11, Registration Area 03, Polling Unit 001 in Ileoluji/Okeigbo, Ajiferere North at Sky Way Confidence Primary School, voting proceeded smoothly with no major issues reported.
Oluwatoyin Eunice, the Presiding Officer for the area, expressed satisfaction with the process. “We thank God that everything is working successfully. Even the BVAS is working very well,” she said.
When asked if any challenges were encountered, she confirmed, “No, there’s not any challenge.” Eunice noted that a total of 842 voters were registered at the unit, and by mid-day, 196 had already cast their votes, with more expected before closing time at 2:30 p.m. She emphasized that after this time, no further voters would be attended to.
However, she mentioned one exception, where the BVAS was unable to capture a voter’s fingerprint despite multiple attempts. “We tried it for him like three times, but unfortunately, the BVAS didn’t work, so we allowed him to go,” Eunice explained.
While Ondo West Local Government Area 11, Registration Area 03, Polling Unit 001 in Ileoluji/Okeigbo, Ajiferere North at Sky Way Confidence Primary School, voters turned out in large numbers for a peaceful election.
Segun Odusonya, a civil servant, praised the smooth and organized process, noting that INEC officials arrived promptly and voting began around 8:00 a.m. “There’s no delay in any form. The BVAS worked very well—less than a minute, and you are off,” he said.
Odusonya commended the peaceful atmosphere and absence of violence, expressing gratitude for the orderly conduct. “Voter turnout was massive, and people are only waiting here to get the result,” he added, remaining on-site to hear the final outcome.
