BREAKING: Kaduna gov’t working secretly to arrest Shehu Sani few hours to governorship election – Source
Barring any last minute change, the former Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District and Civil Rights Activist, Shehu Sani will be arrested few hours to the governorship and House of Assembly elections.
A credible source told CAPITAL POST on Thursday that a caucus meeting of the Kaduna Chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC was held on Wednesday night, where it was decided that a clampdown be carried out on some opposition elements to whittle down their influences ahead of Saturday’s polls.
The insider source who pleaded anonymity said, complaints will be lodged with security agents accusing Shehu Sani and other persons of making inciting statements in order to give credence to their arrest.
Shehu Sani who is a chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party was instrumental to APC’s failure in the Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
In the election, PDP scored 70% having secured the three Senatorial Districts and nine House of Representatives seats.
It is recalled that similar arrests were made by the Department of State Security few days to the presidential and parliamentary elections which a former Commissioner in the State and a staunch member of PDP was arrested and detained.
Those who were arrested on the order of Kaduna State government are the Deputy Director of Media PDP Campaign Committee, Hon. Saidu Adamu, to ward executives from Kabala, Kaduna North, El Abbass Mohammed and Talib Mohammed Lawal.
Shehu is a known critic of governor Nasir El-Rufai and President Muhammadu Buhari.
