Concerned Rivers People (CRP) has described activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju as someone who “speaks from both sides of his mouth” over his recent utterances about FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

Recall that Adeyanju accused the Minister of land grabbing following the recent demolition in Ruga, a suburb in the FCT. Adeyanju also led victims of the demolition exercise in a protest against Wike.

Nyesom Wike, in his response, accused Adeyanju of attacking him after he (Wike) rejected Adeyanju’s plea to become the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Adeyanju denied this claim.

In a statement issued and signed by CRP’s Director of Communications, Robinson Uke, on Saturday, the group asserted that Adeyanju, who is also a social media influencer, is “double-faced.”

CRP questioned why the activist, who was once a staunch supporter of Nyesom Wike and his achievements, had suddenly become his major attacker and critic.

The group recalled how, in 2023, Adeyanju took to social media to praise President Bola Tinubu for appointing a “thoroughbred administrator” as FCT Minister.

They pointed out that Adeyanju had also lauded Wike for undertaking massive project rejuvenation in Rivers State during his tenure as governor—something they claimed his Lagos State counterpart could not achieve.

According to them, barely three months after Wike’s emergence as FCT Minister, Adeyanju showered praises on him and commended the Bola Tinubu-led administration for appointing him as Minister.

“On PDP, the same man (Adeyanju) heaped praises on Wike and Ortom as the bulwarks of the party and praised Wike for single-handedly sustaining the party from collapse.

“If we may ask, what has changed that made Wike an ‘aging personality’ suddenly after all these encomiums?

“Could it be that he didn’t get an expected favor from Wike? Or is all this activism just part of ‘stomach infrastructure’?”
