Accord Party governorship candidate, Usman condemns destruction of political activist’s hotel in Kogi

Ex-Chief of Naval Staff and the Accord Party Kogi State governorship candidate in forthcoming election in Kogi State, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin (rtd) strongly condemned the wanton destruction of a political activist’s hotel in Ejule, Ofu Local Government Council in Kogi East Senatorial District.

The hotel which is owned by Hon. Kabir Bala, alias Okwo was on Wednesday night set ablaze by unidentified gunmen, thereby building tension in Kogi East Senatorial district.

In a statement which he made available to journalists in Abuja, Admiral Usman described the attack as dastardly, condemnable and unwarranted, stressing that there was need for people to imbibe the spirit of tolerance and eschew bitterness, particularly as the State will be facing a critical electoral contest moment from now.

Usman called on the state security apparatus to ensure an urgent and independent investigation and communicate their findings to the public to douse the tension that is building up in Kogi East.

The Governorship hopeful, while also calling on the State Governor, Inspector-General of Police and the Department of State Services to quickly take steps to ensure that the electioneering period leading to governorship election is devoid of all forms of criminality.

Admiral Jibrin, popularly called ‘Akpabana’ promised to bring his experience, extensive knowledge of security and universal contacts to bear on ensuring that the people of the state are safe and secure when he takes over the mantra of leadership of the state.

Meanwhile, CAPITAL POST reports that the proprietor of the hotel was formerly a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress who worked for the success of the incumbent governor, Yahaya Bello in 2019 before he withdrew his support after the 2023 Kogi governorship election, which the governor endorsed his cousin, Ododo Ahmed Usman as the APC candidate.
