Breaking: Labour Party: Female acting National Chairman emerges
Comrade Maria Lebeke has emerged as acting National Chairman of the Labour Party.
Her emergence followed the demise of the.erstwhile National Chairman, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam.
In a statement released to journalists by the party, the newly appointed Acting National Chairman of the party is to be in leadership position pending when elections will be conducted within 12 months through a National Convention for the emergence of a new National Chairman of the party.
Lebeke who served as one of the two (2) National Deputy Chairman to the deceased, Adulsalam, emerged as the party’s Acting National Chairman via a unanimous decision of the members of National Working Committee, NWC in an emergency meeting convened by the National Secretary, Barr Julius Abure with the endorsement of other NWC members held on Thursday 31st December, 2020.
The joint decision by the party’s National working committee, NWC members to appoint Labeke as the Acting National Chairman was made due to the long years of servitude, which has seen her excel in different positions of leadership within the party.
