Ex-Provost, Dr. Rebecca Isaac died of COVID-19 – Nasarawa Deputy governor

Nasarawa State Chairman on COVID-19 taskforce who is also Deputy Governor of the State, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe confirmed that the former Provost of the College of Education, Akwanga, Dr. Rebecca Isaac Umar died of COVID-19.
He lamented the upsurge of the pandemic as 15 persons have died as a result of COVID-19 pandemic within 24 hours.
According to him, “the recent death of the immediate past provost, College of Education Akwanga, Dr Rebecca Issac Umaru was also a victim of the pandemic.
“Meanwhile 30 were cases confirmed infected with the disease.
He made the disclosure in lafia after an emergency joint meeting to deliberate on the second resugent of COVID-19 as well as security situation in the State.
“I’m personally concerned over the faster spread and fatality of COVID-19 in the state within a short time. I appeal to residents of the State to observe all COVID-19 protocols.
Akabe called for a robust peace during and after the Christmas as well as the new year celebration.
CAPITAL POST reports that traditional rulers, security agents, religious leaders, and members of the state tasks force on COVID-19 were in the meeting which was expected to take a far reaching measures to mitigate the spread of the virus in the state during the yuletide season.
