Kogi: Petrol tanker crushes teenage boy, as residents lament incessant accidents
In a tragic Petrol tanker accident, an 18 year old, Rufai Usman on Thursday crushed to death in Felele part of Lokoja.
An eye witness explained that a fully loaded petrol tanker failed brake and rammed into the ever busy Felele junction and crushed the boy.
The accident which happened at 8 o’clock when civil servants were struggling to board vehicles to their places of work would have caused unmitigated disaster, if the tanker had gone in flames.
It was narrated that the deceased do assist his mother who normally tried local beans by the road, but had Thursday morning being to the place which is close to the junction ahead of the arrival of his mother to commence frying when the truck failed brake and killed him on the spot.
It was also hinted that the late Rufai Usman was an undergraduate of Kogi State Polytechnic and has been waiting to resume school, once the COVID-19 break was over.
It was gathered that the victim’s mother age 41 years fainted when the news of the sudden death of her son whom she had been struggling to train through education reached her.
“It is unfortunate that Felele has become a centre of motor accident where vibrant people lost their lives . This year alone more than five major accident had occurred where many lives were lost.
”In fact if I have the means I will relocate from this area because this recurrent accident in this area is already fearful and worrisome”
A resident of Felele community lamented that the persistent accidents at Felele was becoming unbearable, appealing to the government to find a lasting solution.
