Rivers lawmaker says sanction threat against him ridiculous, insist on moves to impeach Buhari
Member representing Obior/Akpor Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Kingsley Chinda has described as ridiculous, threat by the majority leader of the lower chamber to sanction him.
He said he owe nobody apology for calling for impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari.
“Comments by the leader of the House, Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa, to punish me for calling for an impeachment process against the President ridicules the House of Representatives.
The lawmaker revealed that members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party were being sensitized.
He said, they were also talking to Nigerians to talk to their representatives, noting that it’s not what Doguwa want, but what his constituents want.
“It is not what you want. If the people that the House leader represents in Kano come together and tell him (Doguwa) we want you to sign this impeachment notice, we are in support, he has no right to do otherwise.
Speaking on Nigeria Info 92.3FM in Portharcourt, Chinda insisted that the opposition party is sensitizing lawmakers and Nigerians already.
“I owe nobody any apology for calling for the impeachment of Mr. President. The leader of the House said that I am speaking for myself and not for the PDP caucus.
“I don’t know who he (Doguwa) is in touch with. The PDP has also come out to say that is the position of the party, and as spokesperson of PDP in the House, I said the position of PDP in the House. Why would the majority leader who is very experienced in parliamentary issues be dancing naked in the public?”
Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa had threatened to sanction Rivers lawmaker for daring to call for impeachment of President Buhari.
