‘Some politicians trying to set Nasarawa State on fire’ – Senator Al-Makura

Senator representing Nasarawa South Senatorial district and former governor of Nasarawa State, Tanko Al-Makura has debunked rumours making the round that there was cold war between him and the State governor.

Change of Name

For past months there were rumours all over the State, particularly among politicians that the relationship between the State governor, Abdullahi Sule and his predecessor, Tanko Al-Makura has gone frosty.

Making the denial on Sunday, the immediate past governor of Nasarawa State insisted that there was no disagreement with his successor in office.

According to him, some political elements peddling the unfortunate rumours were those who objected to the choice of Abdullahi Sule in 2019, saying that they have now become “sycophants who are trying to set Nasarawa State on fire.”

“Some people are trying to bring issues where there was none simply because they wanted to gain favor either from the Governor or from whoever.

Senator, Al-makura who made his position clear, said that those wishing to set the State on fire will not succeed.

“We have come along way with my successor and nobody can come in between us Insha Allah.”

He further explained that they were some elements who are going about making false information aimed at creating a scene to achieve their goals, but, they will definitely fail sooner or later.

“For your information, when Governor Sule became the choice to succeed me, the same crop of people kicked against it, but now they became political sycophants.

Recently, at the sworn-in ceremony of the newly elected officials of GWADECA, Senator Al-makura called on all members of the association to give maximum support and cooperation to Governor Sule.

He said: “Let me draw your attention that when you support government of the day I have no doubt in my mind that you will continue to witness more developments in your door steps”, Al-makura told his kingsmen.

Senator Al-makura who didn’t hide his combat readiness to support his successor for him to succeed beyond where he stopped, said he was optimistic that the would complete projects he initiated while in office.

Governor Abdullahi Sule promised to complete all projects initiated by his predecessor as according to him, as he always emphasise that all developmental projects put together by previous administrations will be completed under his watch for the benefit of people of the state.

Some of the projects started by Al-Makura and completed by Sule are presidential lodge, diagnosis centre among other projects that have direct bearing to the lives of people.

During the ceremony of the diagnosis center which was commissioned by Vice President Professor Yemi Osibanjo recently, Sule told the gathering that the center was the initiative of Senator Al-Makura.
