High perfomance work practices drives organisational goals, DG NPC, advises

The Director General, National Productivity Centre, NPC, Dr Kashim Akor has reiterated high performance as the bane for achieving expected results in all sectors in Nigeria.

Dr Akor dropped this message in an address to the intermediate/senior cadre of Nigeria Geological Survey Agency (NGSA), during the three days specialised training held in Nassarawa State.

Change of Name

The DG in his paper titled: ‘High Perfomance Work Practices For Achieving Organisational Excellence’, charged officers driving Government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies on the need to be focused on productivity consciousness, determine productivity levels, monitor productivity trends, conduct research and surveys as well as capacity building to ensure seamless attainment of productivity at all levels.

“The Centre has the onerous responsibility as the apex agency of the Federal Government to stimulate productivity consciousness, determine productivity levels, monitor productivity trends, conduct Research and Surveys, as well as build productivity capacity in the country towards the attainment of higher levels of productivity in all sectors of the Nigerian economy.

“This Programme is in furtherance of this mandate. As a knowledge based organization, the Centre offers a wide range of capacity building and development programmes aimed at improving performance and organizational excellence.”

The Director General praised the initial efforts of the agency on its drive towards building capacity and skill competencies of its officers, as a drive towards accelerated developement of geosciences information and knowledge

“I like to commend the Management of Nigeria Geological Survey Agency for the step taken to build the skills and competencies of the members of staff which is cardinal for the improvement and emergence of your agency as the ultimate referral point for geosciences information and knowledge in Nigeria.”

He says capacity building and skill development will not only guarantee quality output and exposed professionalism in all areas,but it is capable of sustaining the driving force/ the template of organisational goals.

‘There is no substitute to developing the workforce, as the quality of the output of the Agency largely depends on the quality in terms of professionalism and skills of the members of staff.’

He assured participants and it’s agency of adequate knowledge,skills and capacity from the NPC ,that will translate to high performance at all levels and units in an establishment.

“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, achieving organizational excellence would demand knowledge and its application in terms of skills and competencies visible in high performance work practices at your various offices, levels and units. You can count on us to transfer productivity knowledge based on the specific needs of your organization at this training programme.”

Dr Akor urged participants to avail themselves of this ample opportunity and acquaintances, so as to prepare them for the competitive local and global environment, as well as exposed them to the intricacies and goals of productivity.
