COVID-19: Nasarawa Culture ministry conducts test on staff after NAFEST in Plateau

Following the resurgence of COVID-19 pandemic, the Nasarawa State Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism has commenced mass test of its staff in Lafia.

The test, according to the Commissioner in the Ministry, Comrade Dogo Shama is a proactive measure aimed at nipping any possible virus among its staff.

The Commissioner explained that the test which is taking place on premises of the Ministry was as a result of the Ministry’s participation in NAFEST in Jo’s recently with the good number of staff.

He called on staff to make themselves available for the test, saying that it is in their interest.

“Upon return from the festival there was cases of ill-health among staff from one person to another and that is the reason we decided to embark on this exercise. He said.

The information Commissioner further explained that in the light of the above, the ministry decided to commence self test for Covid-19.

Comrade, Dogo Shama confirmed that the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Angbazo was tested positive for COVID-19 and was now taking medication in one of the Abuja hospital.

“But when we spoke with her this morning I was impressed with her response. It shows that she is responding to treatment”. Shama expressed happiness.

He appealed to people of the State to adhere to COVID-19 protocols to avoid being affected with the pandemic.

“Public should be able to use facemask, observes social distancing and washing of hands regulary will help in preventing them from contacting this deadly disease in the state.

The Commissioner also called on people to cooperate with COVID-19 taskforce team while carring out their assignment where necessary.

“I want to say COVID-19 is real and.was resurfacing at an alarming rate. Day in day out, the cases are being reported and I therefore call on people of the state that they should note that this period of harmattan is contributing in the spread of the pandemic.

“According to medical experts, the virus is associated with cold and help in spreading it fast.

Comrade Shama pointed out that government is sensitive in quest not to lose anyone in the State.
