As reactions continue to trail abduction of Government Science Secondary School boys, Kankara in Katsina State last weekend, and their subsequent release on Thursday, a Pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, described the development as a scam.

The group said, there was nothing short of malady, a situation that Nigerians found themselves, where there were often organised abductions for government to part money in billions to terrorists.

Change of Name

The National Publicity Secretary of the Afenifere, Mr. Yinka Odumakin, said the Kankara scenario was a huge joke, asking Nigerians to wake up.

He said, it should dawn on Nigerians now that there was nothing left of what government is doing, recalling that in 2014, a similar thing happened in Chibok where huge funds was released to terrorists as ransom.

The group insisted that it was a tragedy situation, but regretted that some people were playing with precious lives of young Nigerians.

“But the Chibok practical joke was re-enacted a few days back as President Buhari arrived Katsina and hundreds of Kankara schoolboys were abducted by Boko Haram in broad daylight and along military routes like in Chibok.

Afenifere lamented that they are part of Nigerians, stressing that it was more regretable that human lives were now considered worthless officially.

“We are not in doubt that the lives of these boys must have been used to swipe the card once again and more money will be available to terrorise Nigerians.”

“We call on all Nigerians, especially the enlightened north to rise and speak up at this mad season as we can’t continue to allow this practical joke to roll over us. It is time to rescue Nigeria from this malady and we must rise above any primordial sentiments.”
