NGO sensitizes repentant drug addicts on dangers of substance

A Plateau based non-governmental organization under, Youth Initiative Against Violence and Human Right Abuse (YIAVHA), interfaced with some youths who have disengaged themselves from taking drugs and other dangerous substance in Plateau.
YIAVHA also based on Youth interfaith Relations Network devoid of religious extremism or cultural affinity.
The one day interactive workshop held in Jos the state capital on Wednesday is on the need to understand the dangers of drugs addiction.
The repentant drugs addict who participated in the workshop drawn from Farin Gada, Utan, Naraguta Village and Angwan Rimi communities of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau
A medical personnel, Kizito Ndak, working with one of the rehabilitation center in Plateau said having developed a working experience for over ten years, drugs and other dangerous substances have destroyed the carrier of many young people.
He pinpointed five stage of charges that people easily get addicted to drugs which includes; pre-contemplating, contemplating, action, maintenance and relate charges.
He also acknowledge that low self esteem is a very serious psychological that must often time make people get back to drugs, but suggested 5Ds as a remedy for somebody not to indulge in again. The 5Ds are; delay taking action, distraction,drink water, discuss with someone and take a deep breath.
Kizito admonished the repentant youth to be wary of bad friends, nothing that” you must develop the wheel power because the environment you live determine whether you quiet drugs or not”.
Some of the participants who narrates ordeal as they recount loses courtesy of drugs consumption and other dangerous substance applauded YIAVHA for the initiative, and promised to reach out to those who are yet understand the dangers of drugs addiction in their various communities.
