18 Nigerian Army Generals test positive for COVID-19
There might be upsurge in cases of COVID-19 as 18 generals in the Nigerian Army tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).
The victims, sources disclosed, have closed contact with the late Major General Olu Irefin who died from COVID-19 complications last week in Abuja.
The Generals attended Senior Army Officers 2020 Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre in Abuja.
The late General Irefin was said to have visited some of his colleagues at home before he attended the conference, heightening tension among those yet to show signs of the virus.
Thereafter, all the officers who attended the conference, their wives, and other members of their families who live with them, have been directed to isolate themselves for a week by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
Meanwhile, families of late Irefin who hailed from Kogi State reportedly expressed anger that the General might have been killed rather than the COVID-19 the Army authority claimed was the cause of his death.
