A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (APC), and zonal Chairman of the party, Mamman Pele said, the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) has handed over the Council election materials to APC contestants and thugs loyal to the party on Friday.

He described the situation that led to no election across the three Senatorial flank as a National shame, saying that the PDP has passed A vote of no confidence on SIEC.

In a statement issued and made available to CAPITAL POST in Lokoja, Pele said, the situation was not ‘unexpected’ given the connivance between SIEC and APC all these while.

The statement reads:

“As expected in Kogi state, Local Government election billed to hold today, December 14 has been hijacked by APC members in Kogi east in connnivance with Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission, KOSIEC, PDP. .

“We passed a vote of no confidence on Kogi state Independent electoral Commission KOSIEC.

“This is happening at the backdrop of arrangements by the State government to pay both councillors and chairmen to be elected a paltry sum of money, rather than the recommended emoluments by the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMFAC.

“The Nine local government areas in Kogi east are only witnessing ongoing local government election in the area on social media, with already thumb printed materials hidden in APC starlwarts residences across the local government.

“The KOSIEC chairman and it’s members who were accussed earlier as card carrying members of APC had proved same,as no sign of election in the areas, having compromised their unbiased stance as it is supposed to be a partial referee in the contest. Alhaji Pele said.

He however appeal to PDP members across the nine local governments to wait till 2023 for another round of election, as the ongoing exercise is just a mere window dressing.

He described as unfortunate the activities of KOSIEC, that refused to learn from the international embarrassment brought to Nigeria via Kogi state, as well as sanctions imposed on Nigeria and the political office holders.
