The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kogi Stste Chapter has faulted the State Government’s handling of the Local Government Council election where election materials were handed over to APC Chairmanship contestants and they were away with them.

In a reaction on Saturday, the opposition party described as a shame of governor Yahaya Bello’s branding democracy and a mockery to the nation.

The statement of the party which was issued in Lokoja and made available to CAPITAL POST on Saturday, the Publicity Secretary, Mr. Bode Ogunmola asserted that the entire process was nothing short of a scam.

Yahaya Bello was conducting a local government election after six years, which the party posited that he would have opened up to Kogites that they were not ready to conduct any council election rather than wasting the precious time of electorate.

The party said, electorate would have vented their anger, had election materials were made available, given the maladministration of the All Progressives Congress in Kogi State in the last five years.

Ogunmola maintained that there was no election anywhere in any of the 21 local governments in Kogi State.

The Party spokesperson alleged that some thugs loyal to the ruling party, invaded the headquarter of the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission, (KOSIEC), on Friday night, to snatch ballot boxes into an unknown destination.

According to him, the ruling party would have tasted utter defeat, if there was opportunity for Kogites to march to the polling units as a result of APC’s deliberate creation of poverty, unemployment, hunger and shrinking economy.

Ogunmola maintained: ”There is no election any where in Kogi State. I am at 002 Open space voting unit in Ogori, This is 9.30am and there is no sign of any voting any where.

“Reports reaching me from across the state is the same. This is a big disgrace to our state again under the APC led government”.
