DG commends Pfizer, Mordena on COVID-19 vaccines, challenges experts on organisational techniques

Amidst post COVID-19 pandemic, National Productivity Centre NPC Director General, Dr Kashim Akor says skills, knowledge and competencies will be sharpened in all areas of productivity, if the adherence to constant organisational techniques is not de-emphasised.

Dr Akor made this point during an address of welcome at a three day National workshop organised by the NPC tagged “Enhancing Organisational Performance through Productivity Improvement Techniques”, held at global village and suites, one man village, Koroduma, Nassarawa State.

Change of Name

The NPC Director General congratulated Nigerians on the medical breakthrough of COVID-19 vaccines, while commending Pfizer and Modena, advising Nigerians on the need for continuous adherence to NCDC’s protocols in public functions.

Dr Akor maintained that the vision and mission of the productivity centre is geared to accelerate socio-economic growth and development through improvement in all sectors of the Nigeria’s economy.

Therefore, “the Centre for over three decades has been involved in Productivity Promotion and Advocacy, Research and Survey, Productivity Measurement, Consultancy and Capacity Building.” He said.

He says the routine programme is to rejig capacity building, equip participants with knowledge to enhance organisational perfomance.

“This National Workshop is part of the many capacity building programmes of the Centre designed to equip participants with in-depth knowledge necessary to enhance organizational performance. The relevance of National Workshop stems from the fact that its design is holistic and its composition of participation is inter-disciplinary and multi-sectorial.’

According to the DG, considering the adverse effects of global pandemic of COVID-19 and its effects on the economy, the need to re-address Productivity cannot be overemphasized.

“Given the urgent need for recovery from the adverse effects of the coronavirus pandemic on an emerging economy as ours, individuals, corporate organizations and the nation at large must give productivity a pride of place in our National Polity and embrace the knowledge based economy to drive the economy on the pathway of growth and development.”

He Commends the Management for sustaining this programme all year round, saying this will impact positively on the productivity of many Nigerians

Dr Akor urged participants to use this year’s opportunity to tap into the wealth of experience and knowledge of the facilitators and resource persons, says it will be beneficial in Work, Knowledge, Ethics, Productivity, Techniques, Perfomance Measurement, and Business process Re-engineering.

‘At this workshop, seasoned and versatile productivity consultants will share relevant knowledge on Work Ethics, Productivity Improvement Tools and Techniques, Performance Measurement and Business Process Re-engineering amongst others. Am particularly delighted with the caliber of resource persons and professionals invited to make presentations at this workshop.’

Dr Akor praised the members of staff of NPC for a job well done, that is meant to address non-productivity and idleness.
