Kogi LGA polls: Police sends ‘strong message’ to thugs

Those planning to forment trouble in Saturday’s Kogi State Local Government Election, particularly thugs would be met with the wrath of the Police, hence, they are advised to stay clear, Kogi State. Commissioner of Police, Ede Ayuba Ekpeji has said.

He asked political thugs to excuse themselves from the polling booths and collation centers.

Change of Name

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP William Ovye Aya on Friday, the Commissioner told parents to caution their wards to conduct themselves in an acceptable manner during the election.

The statement quoted the Commissioner saying that “the full wrath of the law will be applied on anybody caught breeching the law regulating the conduct of the election”.

The Commissioner of Police revealed that his officers and other security agents have been deployed across the State, urging electorate not to panic, but they should come out to exercise their civic rights.

He further stated that the Command priority is to ensure violence free election adding that, ” in order to achieve this, members of the public are urged to fully cooperate with the security agencies to guard against criminal elements hijacking/disrupting the process of election”.
