The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Plateau State Chapter, Hon Chris Hassan had called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to urgently disqualify the All Progressive Congress, APC, candidate for Plateau southern Senatorial bye election scheduled to hold on the 5th December, 2020 in six (6) Local government councils.

Change of Name

Hon Hassan made this call while addressing a world press conference held at the party secretariat on Wednesday along Yakubu Gowon way opposite NTA, Jos.

According to him, the candidate of the APC should be disqualified from participating ow
ing to her inability to obtain PVC and she hasn’t contributed to the progress of the grassroots politics all her life.

We observe with displeasure that the APC are planning to import political thugs from Jos North Local Government Council for them to rig election or use money in buying votes as alleged.

The Chairman expressed optimism of winning the forthcoming bye election considering their rigorous campaign strategy within two months of imbibing on House to House campaign.

He disclosed that the party still pass a vote of confidence on their candidate, Hon George Daika who is a seasoned politician who’s contribution can’t be ignored, adding that that PDP brought him on board with his wealth of experience in legislative business .

We support someone with credibility as a former parliamentarian that has served in West African plenary. So there is no space for inexperienced candidate of the APC, we are warning them not to take their report for granted or see it as a threat.

Hassan said for Lalong government that promised to implement the N30,000.00 minimum wage and now reneged on his campaign, “it is sad that we can’t vote for incompetence again.

He cleared doubt perpetuated by the APC saying that the court judgment has disqualified the PDP candidate of south, George Daika, saying, “that it is not true as well as its an attempt to mislead and confuse our teaming supporters ahead of election.”

However, PDP challenged the prof. Nora Daduut to produce her voters card, “because we are confident and ready to celebrate their landslide victory, Plateau south need a candidate with good records of achievements.

We appeal to adhoc staff to ensure transparency not to allow themselves to be used in this APC rigging in the forthcoming election. We call for calm and we have alerted our supporters to come out and cast their votes without any intimidation.

We are also aware of the internal wrangling in APC which they failed to conduct primaries and the manner they imposed candidates with impunity generated conflict within them.

In his reaction, the State Chairman of  APC Hon. Latep Dabang who dismissed all the allegations raised by the PDP described them as the ranting of a drowning political party and figment of their imagination.

“I want to declare that Professor Nora Dadu’ut has been a member of APC since 2014. I have the register of all the party faithful; this is just political propaganda and mischief to discourage our supporters. She is 153 on the register list from her ward. She is an active member of  APC, the PDP is just dissipating its energy in vain.

“I will equally advise the PDP to concentrate on its prevailing crisis. I don’t think the party can survive on the Plateau  again, they are gone, the engine is not just there what people are seeing is just the body, PDP in Plateau State is  like a car without engine.

“They cannot make headway in Plateau South, this is the Senatorial district of Governor Simon Lalong, the deputy Speaker  House of Representatives Hon. Idris Maje, Minister of Women Affairs Mrs.Pauline Tallen and host of other. They should forget the election, PDP cannot make headway in Plateau South”.
