Ex-House member Obande defects to APC in Nasarawa

Following the crisis that rocked the Peoples Democratic Party in Nasarawa state which emanated from the ward, Local Government and State congresses, the former lawmaker, Hon. Anthony Obande said he has decamped to All Progressives Congress (APC).

Change of Name

The former lawmaker who served between 2015 and 2019 on PDP platform in Nasarawa State House of Assembly indicated that he was dumping PDP with his supporters for APC.

“Our reason is not far from the lack of internal democracy and impunity which has become the order of the day.

He announced his defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress at his ward in Agbashi, Agbashi ward in Doma Local Government of the state alongside some members of PDP.

“May I used this opportunity to present to you my teeming supporters who defected with me to APC, with all assurances that we will work for the success of the party come 2023.

“My special apology goes to Barrister Yakubu Hassan former Assistant National Organising Secretary of PDP, for working against him and supported Francis Orogu during last election of the party.

The aggrieved PDP who openly show his grievances right from ward, Local Government and state congress of the party pulled mammoth crowd out of the party. The mass movement witnessed heavyweight of the ruling party in Agbashi, the headquarters of Ekye Development Area.

It was revealed that the stakeholders meeting that held in Akwanga was a stalemate as the aggrieved party members meeting ended in deadlock. On the other end the reconciliation committee set up by the state chairman of the party, Orogu has a lot to do before achieving this peculiar challenge ahead of them.

CAPITAL POST report that more than 500 members dumped the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress, this was coming at a time that Hon. Francis Orogu has assured the party that PDP will reclaim the state in 2023.

Orogu made the statement in an interview with Journalists at Lion Gate, during the state congress in Keffi. The chairman pointed out that PDP, would unseat the present administration of Governor, Abdullahi Sule without stress in 2023.

While receiving the defectors, the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Honorable Musa Ibrahim disclosed that the inclusion of Doma-Akpanaja and Idadu- Agbashi Roads in the 2021 budget was a step at the right direction.

According to the Commissioner, if the roads are completed, there would not only promote commercial activities within the communities, but would also enhance development of the constituency and the entire Local Government Area.

He welcome the new decampies to the party fold.
